Coaches Corner!

30 Oct 2020 by Chuck martin

Covid X-C Updates:
I just wanted to applaud all the Student-Athletes for really doing a fantastic job on combining Running and the Covid Adjustments. Even though these Athletes have been cornered by Covid restrictions, they continue to train and race on an extremely high level.  It has been very impressive to watch them conquer both the competition as well as the Covid Plan.

Not Your Typical Season:
This has been a different type of X-C Season, as X-C Coaches are creatures of habit rolling through each year with a similar schedule and training plan. After losing Track and Field last year, we are extremely blessed to be able to have some kind of Cross-Country experience for all.

Red Towns everywhere! :
Unfortunately, many of the towns around us are creeping in the Covid Red Zone. This has stopped sports in both Rockland and Abington. Rockland could possibly return in another week, but Abington may be off the schedule until after November 11th. Like everything else in the world, these restrictions may change based on where the data is coming from within the town and school systems. As we stand right now, the Abington meet next Saturday is in jeopardy. We are trying to adjust to the current situation by adding another meet to our schedule. We may actually roll into East Bridgewater on Tuesday and Wednesday to give the Athletes another race. I know it will be back to back with the Vikings, but with the Abington meet in jeopardy, it will give everyone another day of competition.

Is it possible to have Happy Covid News!:
With Volleyball being placed later in the school year, the girls program added Senior Rose Hansen to the team.  She has adapted quite nicely to her new home, and has been a positive upbeat teammate from day 1!

The Week Ahead:
Tomorrow’s Race Schedule. Boys 3:10 pm  /  Girls 4:00pm
Tuesday : Boys @ East Bridgewater  4:00pm ( travel Team Only)
Wednesday: Girls @ East Bridgewater  4:00pm
Saturday Nov. 7- Abington???  (most likely cancelled)

Celebrating Seniors
We will be Celebrating our Seniors tomorrow at the East Bridgewater meet. Like years past, we will decorate our dugouts as well as add balloons and streamers at the CCC. This is consistent with the experience we have given to all our past Seniors. We will do a brief 15 minute presentation after the meet that will take place on the little grass hill along the Multipurpose Field. We will need to follow the Covid Guidelines that are placed upon us. This meet will be open to all X-C Families and it will follow the same guidelines as our previous meets. I will be the point person on any questions regarding this meet. Please feel free to reach out by phone at 781-927-5500 with any and all questions.
